We are seeking a motivated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at The Lime Kiln Gastropub. Is that you?

If so, you will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen brigade, assisting in food preparation, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.

This position is ideal for someone looking to develop their culinary skills and grow within the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning food items.
  • Support the kitchen team in the daily running of the kitchen, including stock rotation and inventory management.
  • Learn and master various cooking techniques and kitchen equipment usage.
  • Adhere to all recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient service and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in the creation of daily specials and contribute to menu development when required.
  • Handle and store ingredients and products safely and efficiently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is preferred but not required; a willingness to learn is essential.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for food and cooking.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

This is a full-time position including evenings and weekends. Competitive salary dependent on experience.
